Curate productive financing conversations during HSA/FSA season

Millions of Americans have a healthcare savings benefit with their employers, and Fall is an ideal time to center those benefits during your financing conversations. Here’s what you need to know to help your patients leverage these accounts to improve their oral health with CandidPro clear aligner therapy. 


What are healthcare savings benefits?

To refresh your memory, many healthcare plans offer additional pre-tax savings opportunities in the form of healthcare savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA). HSA contributions will roll over year after year. FSA dollars will expire at the end of the calendar year.

Do my patients know about HSA and FSA benefits?

Some of your patients will likely be well-versed in these benefits. Others may not realize that orthodontic treatment is an eligible expense. For those needing to spend FSA dollars before they expire, CandidPro can be a lifeline—and you can take the first step by having your office manager flag any patients who pay into an FSA.

How do I bring up HSA and FSA benefits with my patients?

We recommend asking your patients about their HSA and FSA benefits during your financing conversations as one potential payment option. Ideally, this conversation is led by your office manager or another practice employee who is less clinically focused. Make sure the patient is aware that their FSA funds will expire at the end of the year to drive urgency.
